Take a read through some of our most frequently asked questions below to see if you find what you’re looking for. General FAQ
Which type of therapy is right for my child?

Each child is unique and has their own goals, so it depends what you are looking for. Here's a quick guide to help you choose the right therapist:

Occupational Therapist: Great for improving activities of daily living, sensory processing, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and fine motor skills.

Psychotherapist: Occupational therapists skilled in addressing emotions, mental health, and trauma.

Physiotherapist: Ideal for addressing gross motor skills, musculoskeletal issues/injuries, neurological and genetic conditions.

Kinesiologist: Perfect for improving gross and fine motor skills, promoting physical fitness, activity, and healthy movement patterns.

RSSW: Helps navigate resources and funding options for families, provides social and emotional support for children, addressing behavioral and emotional challenges.

What ages of children do you treat?

We treat all children from birth to 18+ and will even treat adults too!

We are on a waiting list for a publicly funded program. Are you able to see my child privately while we wait for this treatment to start?

Yes! Our therapists are happy to get you started with your child's therapy and to collaborate with your current and future health team.

My child has Autism and has difficulty concentrating. Are you able to accommodate him/her?

Our therapists are happy to see children with all abilities! Our clinic is equipped with rooms in order to privately serve each patient and 2 gyms to accommodate multiple children at the same time. In some cases, our PT/OT assistant will help with children who need a little extra care. She is specially trained and has a lot of experience with children with Autism. Please mention if this would be a good option for your child.

Does my child need physio/occupational therapy/yoga?

Check out our services section to see all of the services that we offer. We cater to children with all sorts of needs and would be happy to help! If you would like to discuss your child's individual needs, please give our office a call.

Does my child require a doctor’s referral?

No referral is required to book an appointment, however some extended health benefit providers will require a doctor's referral, so be sure to check with them first.

Billing FAQ
What is Your Cancellation Policy and Associated Fees?

We understand that sometimes schedules change and you may need to cancel your appointment. Please be aware that cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time will incur a $40 cancellation fee. This fee helps us manage our scheduling and maintain the highest level of care for all our patients. In cases of a missed appointment without any prior call or email, referred to as a “No Show”, we will charge the full fee of the session.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept debit, Mastercard, Visa, cash payments, and On The Ball gift cards.

Are your services covered under OAP?

Occupational therapy, psychotherapy, social service work, and some of our group programs are covered under the new guidelines for OAP funding. However, we encourage you to check with your OAP representative to determine your funding and eligibility requirements.

Do you know of any third party funding options available?

Can I get a digital copy of my receipt?

We are happy to provide receipts that are printed and/or send them by email.

Are your services covered by OHIP?

Unfortunately not, but many insurance companies will reimburse you for our services. Be sure to check with them to see which services you are covered for.  We are happy to provide you with a receipt.

Do you do direct billing to my extended insurance provider?

Not at this point, but we are happy to provide you with a receipt that you could submit to your insurance provider. We recommend that you check with your insurance provider before booking your appointment.

We are on a waiting list for a publicly funded program. Are you able to see my child privately while we wait for this treatment to start?

Yes! Many of our patients are on long waiting lists for concerns that need to be addressed as soon as possible. We are pleased to offer a team of therapists who cover a good range of hours. This allows us to see your child sooner.

Facilities FAQ
Do You Offer Teletherapy, Home Visits, or School Visits?

We do! Teletherapy (virtual sessions), home visits, and school visits can be arranged subject to availability of each therapist. If this is something you are interested in, please contact our reception team and we will match you up with the best therapist for your needs.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday - Thursday 8 am - 8pm, and Friday and Saturday 8 am - 4 pm. Individual therapist’s hours will differ.

Please note we are closed on all statutory holidays

Do you have a washroom/change table on site?

Yes we do!

Is your location wheel-chair/stroller accessible?

Yes! Our Kanata location is designed with accessibility in mind. The front door is completely wheelchair and stroller accessible, situated at the same level as our clinic to ensure easy and convenient entry for all our visitors.

If you are coming to our Orleans location, the front door is also completely accessible. There is an elevator to bring you up to the second floor where our clinic is located. 

Do you offer parking on site?

Yes! We have plenty of free parking available in Kanata and Orleans!

Appointments FAQ
How long is each appointment?

Your initial assessment usually takes 60 minutes. Follow up appointment duration and frequency vary based on each unique child and their personalized care plan. Most follow up appointments are 30 or 45 minutes long.

What if I have an emergency and need to cancel at the last minute?

We understand that emergencies happen. If you have an urgent situation that prevents you from attending your appointment and it's less than 24 hours before your scheduled time, please contact us as soon as possible to explain the circumstances. We will review each case individually and may waive the cancellation fee in cases of genuine emergency.

Why is there a cancellation fee?

Our cancellation fee is in place to encourage timely notifications of cancellation. This policy helps us manage our resources effectively and ensures that we can provide timely care to all our patients. By receiving early notifications of cancellations, we can offer these time slots to other patients who may be in need of urgent care or are waiting for an available appointment.

What is the process for canceling an appointment?

We understand that sometimes schedules change and you may need to cancel your appointment. To do so, please follow these steps:

Contact Us Early: For a cancellation without a fee, we request that you contact us at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time. This allows us to offer the slot to other patients who may be waiting for an appointment.

How to Cancel: You can cancel your appointment by calling or emailing our front desk or through our online patient portal. Please provide your name, appointment date and time, and a brief reason for the cancellation.

Cancellation Fee: Please be aware that cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time will incur a $40 cancellation fee. This fee helps us manage our scheduling and maintain the highest level of care for all our patients.

Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule your appointment, we are more than happy to assist you. Please let us know your preferred dates and times, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Can I book online?

Your initial assessments must be booked through our reception team by phone or email, however you may book online for follow-up appointments.

How do we book an appointment?

For initial assessments, please call or email our clinic and a receptionist will be happy to set you up with the appropriate therapist.‍
